# Difference between the GVB in Belgium and the Netherlands

Both countries have a golf proficiency certificate, but there are important differences in cost, duration and approach.

In Belgium the golf proficiency certificate is called the “golfbrevet” and is issued by the VGF (Flemish Golf Federation) or AFGOLF. In the Netherlands it is called the GVB and is registered with the NGF (Netherlands Golf Federation). Both are recognised and give you access to golf courses across Europe.

## Key differences

* **Duration:** In Belgium the process takes 4-8 weeks across several lessons. In the Netherlands you complete it in 1 day.
* **Cost:** In Belgium you pay EUR300-EUR600\. At Zalm Golf from EUR100, registration included.
* **Approach:** Belgium works with a club-based system. The Netherlands offers flexible, independent courses.
* **Validity:** Both are valid throughout Europe. The Dutch GVB is widely accepted.
