How it works in Belgium
Belgian federation registration (Golf Vlaanderen in the north, AFGolf in the south, together Golf Belgium) generally runs through an affiliated club. You join a club, and through that club you receive your federation card and your handicap registration. Formulas and prices vary widely, but the core stays the same: the club is the counter you have to pass. A nationwide, fully club-free formula like the Dutch one does not exist in Belgium in the same form.
The Dutch route in short
